People are amazing and we’ve advanced in close to everything we do. But why is it that we fail miserably when it comes to the single most important thing we could possible achieve?
If we could just be good – we wouldn’t need elaborate clothes, houses, weapons or science… and we wouldn’t be tormented philosophically. Solving this one problem would solve all our other problems.
And yet, if the current world order is any indication – it seems to be the very last thing on our list of things to achieve.

Well, there are far more pressing goals to achieve right now. How can we worry about being good when there are too many vuvuzelas at the World Cup??? This is a BIG issue, people! Can there be any other explanation for why young Suarez (Uruguay) was, like, the pitch punching bag during today’s match against South Africa? Even the normally cheerful British commentators on the CBC-aired matches are starting to feel the strain.
(I personally am not having a hard time being good due to vuvuzela activity. I must be a shining paragon of humanity or something.)
;D
The fact that we (the collective we) are still arguing over plastic trumpets just proves the point.
Suarez had a great match but he was flopping like a fish, trying to catch the ref’s eye.
I should mention that professional sport is a clear win for the NOW column. Standards in fitness and training have improved to the point where pretty much any legend of yesteryear in any sport would no longer excel.
